Joosup is an innovative application designed for users in the UK, primarily targeted towards car owners and charging station operators. This product aims to enhance charger availability and facilitate their sharing among multiple users. As a result, the growing number of electric vehicle users can efficiently utilize energy replenishment points.
The application, available on Android and iOS, distinguishes between two types of users: hosts (those sharing their chargers) and EV owners (electric vehicle owners). The project implementation was carried out with the aim of creating an effective tool that supports the development of the electric vehicle market in the UK.
With the increasing number of electric vehicles on the roads, the issue of public charger availability is becoming increasingly acute. Users often encounter difficulties finding charging points, which forcing them into long waits and inconvenient reshuffling of their plans. The most frustrating times are, of course, the peak hours when the demand for charging surges. This disproportionate ratio of electric vehicles to available chargers leads to frustration and hampers the seamless utilization of this vehicle segment.
Our goal was to create a patent tailored to our times that effectively addresses the growing electric vehicle charging station availability issue. The solution is the Joosup application through its capability to share private chargers. By establishing a network of charging points, we enhance the efficiency and convenience of electric vehicle usage for users across the UK.
Functionalities for EV Owners (users): Application users can create an account and enjoy a one-year trial period. They can add their vehicle, locate available chargers on a map, and reserve them for a chosen date and duration. Joosup allows for scheduling recurring charging sessions and managing them through a calendar. Payments are processed directly via PayPal - 15 minutes before the session. The application also features a charging calculator that estimates the time needed to replenish the car battery. Users can track an active session, contact the host, and file complaints.
Functionalities for Hosts: Hosts can add and remove their chargers from the system. They gain the ability to earn by sharing their device and managing reservations. Hosts control when their charger is publicly available, determining the days and hours. The application also enables invoice issuance and report generation. When needed, hosts can activate a vacation mode.
Cutting-edge technologies were utilized in the implementation of the Joosup application project. The intricate reservation module, enabling session extensions even a minute before their conclusion, was developed using React.js, which also served for creating an intuitive admin panel. The chat feature in use for user communication is implemented with React Native, handling the display of the user interface.. Firebase, on the other hand, allows for efficient data management. The application also uses Google Maps, AWS, Node.js, and Figma.

The Joosup application, garnering over 100 active users on iOS and Android within a short span, significantly improved the electric vehicle charging ecosystem in the UK. By enabling the sharing of private charging points, it increased station availability, enhancing the convenience of electric vehicle usage. Thus, the application reaffirms its role as an innovative solution supporting green mobility in the UK.
